dc.description The study centered on the effectiveness of role of the SMEs policy and other government policies on the development of SMEs in Tanzania and 55 respondents individual participated. General objective was to explore the role of SMEs policy and others government policies in the development of Small, Medium and Micro enterprises in Tanzania. Specific objectives were to determine the role of the SME development policy in the development of Small, Medium and Micro enterprises in Tanzania and to determine how other policies have contributed to the development of SMEs in Tanzania Case study design was employed and was supported by both qualitative and quantitative research approaches. Research methods such as interview, observation and documentary analysis was employed during the study and were supported by research instruments such as documentary analysis, observation as well as interview questions. The analysis of data was by considering the specific research objectives. Analysis and findings from data collection evidenced a maximum agreement with the role of SME’s development policy in contribution towards development of SME’s in Tanzania. Positive results on the responded research questionnaires which mainly targeted to check the effectiveness of the role of SME’s in the core areas which are the major constraints on SME’s development such as legal and regulatory framework, infrastructure, Business development services, and access of SME’s to finance and further to the needs for Government to formulate SME Agency for implementation of the SMEs Policy in Tanzania. The policy also serves as guidelines to all stakeholders and thus stimulates new enterprises to be established and existing ones to grow and become more competitive. Moreover the finding also shows that development of SMEs depends on impact of other government policies and how are they implemented. Conclusively, the findings indicated that, it’s true that the role of SME’s Policy contribute on the development of SMEs in Tanzania.
