dc.description This study centers on the contribution of corporate governance to the performance of Mwanza Urban Water Supply and Sanitation Authority The study specific objectives were to determine if MWAUWASA has code of best practice for good Corporate Governance in place, the way MWAUWASA complies with those codes, to determine how Corporate Governance influence performance at MWAUWASA, and to identify the factors that affect Corporate Governance framework at MWAUWASA. Theories like Stakeholder Theory, The Agency Theory, The Shareholder Theory, The Political Theory, and The Stewardship. Different literature has been consulted and the gap between the previous and this research has been identified. The Sample was determined using ‘Raosoft Sample Size Calculator’, while Stratified Sampling, Judgmental / Purposive, Simple Random Sampling, were Sampling Techniques used. Interviews, Focus Group Discussion and Observation were used in collecting both Primary and Secondary data and then the data was qualitatively analyzed using Content Method and quantitatively analyzed using Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS) computer program. Among the finding include, issue of gender imbalance, where the organization is still a male dominated, the organization having some employees with primary education, but the majority having above secondary education signifies that the data collected was reliable, Despite having Codes of Best Practice in place at MWAUWASA yet majority of the employees are clueless about the presence of Codes of Best Practice in the office it shows there is a poor information system. Researcher is convinced that at MWAUWASA, from five corporate governance framework examined, there is high compliance of integrity and fairness by the board of directors there is a high level of accountability to society. The researcher also concludes that the level of compliance to integrity and fairness by the management of MWAUWASA is just fair as justified by 42.6% of the respondents
