A total of 40 respondents were interviewed and these consisted of Managers, Department Supervisors and officers. The literature was extensively reviewed by the researcher. Data collection methods used were interviews and documentary analysis while Data collection instruments used were interview questions, questionnaires and documentary review schedule. The findings addressed that the performance of import business is prerequisite for effective application and proper use ICT and therefore helps for national growth and development. ICT plays a big part in influencing the performance of import business in the country. There are some challenges which hinder the application of ICT including budgetary, time and infrastructure. It was concluded that the application of ICT can be made effective if end users were well trained on the applied technology and that if IT is taught from the lower education level then the society will be more familiarized. In other words training and working facilities such as computers are what will facilitate effective ICT application. The study recommended that Tanzania Revenue Authority should make sure that the change in technology employed by the organization is familiarized to clearing and forwarding agencies as well as the whole Tanzania society.
