This research examined the optimum use of Women Participation in Local Government Decision Making in Kinondoni Municipal Council, A Case Study of Kinondoni District, Dar es salaam, Tanzania.The objective of this research was to assess women participation in decision making at local government level and how it facilitates the optimum use of social services and resource allocation in the district with a view to identify challenges facing women in local government decision making. Furthermore several specific objectives were generated, these includes the following, To determine the current status of women participation in decision making in Municipal council, To evaluate the women awareness on the opportunities in the local government decision making, followed by challenges facing women involvement in decision making at local government level municipal council and finally, To find out solutions and strategies can be used to overcome the identified Challenges. Primary data for the research were collected at Kinondoni Municipality, staff from Kinondoni Local Government and women and men from Kinondoni Municipal. Research methods included interviews, questionnaires and observation. Various documentary sources were used to gather secondary data.The overall conclusion of the study is that, as nationally we are all the victims of the women by not being participating in even local government decision making. Therefore without women being involving in local government decision making they will always seems to be inferior in front of men and never think of questioning why where and how things are going on about the matters concerning the themselves. All barriers must be neglected on the issues of women participating in local government decision making |
