dc.description Prominent scholars in human resource and management show that people are the most valuable asset in any organisation or institution. The existing evidence reveals that organizations worldwide are struggling to meet production and service demands knowing that these outcomes are directly dependent on the ability, commitment and skill of a work force that is predominantly disengaged. High performance is achieved by well-motivated people who are prepared to exercise discretionary effort. In this regards, this study aimed at examining how motivation of employees can influence the performance of an organization at Kibaha Education Centre in Coast region. The specific objectives were: to examine the employees perception on motivation; to identify the organisation perception on motivation and finally to examine the relationship between motivation and performance at Kibaha Education Centre in Coast region. Data and information of these study were collected from 63 respondents through questionnaire, interview, documentary review and participant observation methods. The data were analysed quantitatively in tables showing frequencies and percentages of respondents, and the information obtained through interviews was analysed qualitatively. The study found that mployees had wide understand of motivation of employees. They believed that if employees were motivated accordingly, the organisation could witness high performance. It was further found that the organisation perceived motivation in positive way although it was not to extent of viewing it as stimulus of organisation performance. Moreover, the study found that there was positive relationship between motivation and organisation performance. The study suggests that Kibaha Education Centre is responsible for making sure that the kind of reward set aside for motivating workers meet the demand of employees. It further suggests that in setting rules and procedures of motivating employees, the organisation should involve employees in the whole process of doing it. Finally, the study suggest that Kibaha Education Centre should invest on motivating workers for best performance.
