The study to assess" Factors contributing to low morale among workers in public organizations in Tanzania." was conducted at Ilala district in Dar es Salaam region. The objectives of the study were to identify factors contributing to workers low morale at TPA, to examine whether there are laid down procedures for employees to give their grievances to management without being victimized, to identify the satisfaction of employees regarding the management of their organization, to find out if employees are aware on how they can benefit if the organization operates profitably.
The sample size of this study was 70 respondents; Information was collected using questionnaire, in-depth interviews to key informants, focus group discussions, and through observations. Secondary data was obtained using various documentary sources.
The study found that, the majority of employees were not satisfied with their jobs causing them to have a low morale with their work. It was further found that most of them do not enjoy the motivation package at their work. It was also found that there was no any systematic way for the workers to forward their grievances.
Moreover, it was found that majority of employees are not aware concerning the benefits that they may get if the organization operates profitably.
The study concludes that workers at TPA are de-motivated because they realize why they should work hard since they do not know how they can benefit even if organization operates profitably.
It is recommended that, incentive package should be fairly distributed to all workers. |
