dc.description The main objective of this study was to determine the extent which information communication technologies are applied by the Small Medium Business Enterprises, specifically the study examined the awareness in the adoption, measured the benefits that are involved in adopting ICTs in Tanzania and finally the study identified different strategies and challenges that helped the adaptation of information and communication technologies to SMEs in Tanzania. The type of research design used in this was case study. The sampling techniques were purposive sampling in order to obtain the reliable data. The sample comprised of 30 owners of different SMEs around Kariakoo Market and 50 employees of different business organization, 80 customers selected randomly from within the market area. Data have been analyzed statistically by using statistical packages. Data analysis was done and the results indicated a generally favorable attitude to ICT amongst the SMEs surveyed; it also suggests a failure to recognize ICT’s strategic potential and a surprising result was the overwhelming ignorance of regional, national and other stakeholder’s policy initiatives to support SMEs. It was concluded that ICT is very important therefore need to be adopted. In view of the findings and conclusions was recommended that, ICT be adopted and SMEs be encourage to use and adopt the facilities.
