dc.description This study aimed at assessing the quality assurance on procured goods at local government authority in Dodoma municipal council. This study guided by five specific objectives namely; To determine the quality assurance process in procurement of goods in LGAs, to examine the quality of procured goods relevant to its procurement price, to determine the extent over which the procurement process of goods are followed, to examine whether quality assurance for procured goods is effective and to suggest strategies to improve quality assurance in procurement of goods in local government. The study employed the Case study design during data collection. The study used a sample size of 97 respondents. This sample size was obtained through probability sampling technique in which purposive sampling used in selecting the procurement management officers and simple random sampling used for the selection of Supply officers, Clerical officers and User departments’ staff members. The findings were presented basing on the research questions as follows; the quality assurance process in procurement of goods under the local government is not properly followed, due to poor management in the whole procurement process, fluctuation of price and corruption in the procurement process. Mainly top management and transparency procurement process are appropriate strategies to improve quality assurance in procurement of goods in LGA. Finally, LGA has to involve all actors in the procurement process and prevention of corruption in the procurement process by corruption prevention board.
