Microfinance has been perceived as institutions that provide loans to public basing on the assumption that their closer to the community. The objective of the study was to evaluate whether women contribution lead towards enhancing microfinance development. The study was conducted at TANDALESACCOs, Manzese Tiptop KinondoniDistrict.
A sample of hundred (100) respondents was considered as unity of inquiry. The 100 respondents were selected among members of staff and customers of SACCOs in ManzeseKinondoni District Dar es Salaam.Key tools for data collection methods used were questionnaires, interviews, indirect observation and the use of secondary data collection method.
Results/Findings of the study were based on the specific objectives and these were the significance of women contribution towards microfinance development were reduction of poverty, economic growth of microfinance bodies, high entrepreneurship skills, and job creating also the strategies used to promote women participation to this microfinance development were business training, loans, business advice, and financial services.
It was recommended that; Government should support Micro Finance Institutions (MFIs) which deal with Women because in doing so,Micro Finance Institutions(MFIs) such as SACCOs will be in a better position to empower more women economically.
SACCOs should implement training not only for top staffs but also for junior staffs to be effective and efficient in services delivery, staff training should be continuous or at least periodically enforced. |
