This study aimed at assessing the contribution of working place recreational facilities
on employees’ performance at Kurasini Police College in Tanzania. The specific
objectives were: to determine types of working place recreational facilities available
at Kurasini Police College and to examine effects of working place recreational
facilities on employees’ performance at Kurasini Police College.
Case study research design was adopted in which simple random sampling was used
to select 50 staff members. Purposive sampling was applied to collect data from the 5
staff members in the management. Primary data and secondary data were determined
in which the information collected was grouped and analyzed with the aid of
Statistical Package of Social Science (SPSS) Version 23. Nevertheless, content
analysis was used to collect qualitative data.
Indeed, study findings showed that, play grounds, reserved walking areas, groceries
and children play facilities are the types of working place recreations available at
Kurasini Police College. Also the study showed that, high commitment to the work.
The results also showed, that recreational program has been useful to in improving
employees’ performance at Kurasini Police College.
The study concludes that working place recreation facilities are relevant and should
be to be set up in the available places as they have significant influence on
employees’ performance among several other benefits.
It is recommended that, education to the staff members should be provided on the
importance of participating in recreational program as means of enabling employees
to have time for active participation in recreation programs.
