The study was aiming at exploring the influence of factors of performance in private secondary schools, a case of Kigamboni municipality. The study was propelled on four specific objectives in order to achieve the aim. These objectives were; to assess the role played by facilities in performance of private secondary schools; to examine the role of SMTs in private secondary school performance; to elucidate the influence of teachers’ competence and traits to performance in private secondary schools and; to investigate the role of motivational packages in performance in secondary schools.
The study used both qualitative and quantitative approaches in collecting data with the aid of questionnaires and interviews over a sample of 60 respondents who were selected through purposive sampling and convenience sampling. Documentary reviews engaged in review of the literature that was substantiated as well when comparing with the results during the interpretation of the findings concerning the variables. The data that was gathered analyzed and presented in charts, tables and graphs with percentage computations and explanations made in paragraphs to interpret the findings. The study was based on Scientific Management theory, the Hierarchy of needs theory and the Effective school modals to generate the outs
The study findings revealed that facilities, SMTs, teachers’ traits and motivation have influence on performance in private secondary schools. The study therefore concluded that, there is a positive relationship between the variables that was studied and so, schools that have these factors in place are experiencing good performance. The study made recommendations that all the schools at large should embark on acquiring facilities and as well imperative that regulatory authorities enforce facility acquisition in all schools to facilitate effective learning and facilitation that leads to performance. Also, schools should make effort to put in place and train SMTs for effective management roles, conduct professional development for teachers and to include motivational strategies in school plans. |
