dc.description The aim of this study was to determine the Impact of information and communication technology on logistics performance of cargo transportation companies. A review of the literature shows that there is little empirical literature studies conducted on the impact of information and communication and communication technology on logistics performance of cargo transportation companies. This study aimed at filling the empirical gap by investigating the impact of information and communication technology on logistics performance. The study used descriptive research design and was conducted at ten (10) logistics companies located in Dar-es-salaam and sample of 105 employees was drawn from a targeted population of 350. Questionnaire and interview were used as data collection method. Data analysis was done using both quantitative and qualitative methods, for quantitative data (SPSS v 20) was used running the quantitative analysis technique. Hypotheses were tested using numerous data analysis technique which involved exploratory factor analysis (Kaiser- Meyer- Olkin Measure of Sampling Adequacy and Bartlett’s Test of Sphericity), regression analysis (simple linear regression) and correlation analysis (Pearson correlation), while qualitative data were analyzed though content analysis technique. After the analysis results were presented in tables and figures for interpretation. The study found that information flow, fleet management system, inventory management system and logistics integration system have a close relationship with logistics performance of cargo transportation companies. The study recommends the owner and Managers of Cargo transportation companies to adopt information and communication technology in their day to day logistics activities so as to improve the overall performance of logistics and get competitive advantage in the market.
