dc.description Wakf is an important component of the Islamic economic instruments which is firmly believed, can solve the socio-economic problem mainly in the good attempt to eradicate poverty due to scarcity of income and employment. Although Wakf had been implemented in Tanzania in recent years, it has yet given impact in contributing welfare of the people in this present day. The wakf and Trust Commission is one of the religious institutions in this country that play a significant role in developing and managing Muslims Wakf. Lack of awareness, not getting enough funds beside others, several challenges in Wakf will be discussed in this paper. Thus, this study attempts to discuss issues and challenges facing by the commission during the implementation. Therefore, this paper will propose action plan that should be taken by the commission to improve effectiveness and efficiency of Wakf. This study is divided into four chapters, each chapter has its own introduction and conclusion; there’s also a general conclusion which appears in the last chapter. In chapter one, is much concerning with the general view of the problem and objective of the research are explained. The chapter also bears the literature review part, where writings of various authors and researchers on the subject of the effectiveness of wakf and wakf commission in Tanzania. In chapter two covers the general concept of wakf and the legal framework. Under chapter three, is all about data analysis and presentation of results; that the actual findings on the topic in hand are therein explained. Thereafter in the same chapter deals further as to what extent the wakf commission is effective and if it meets the needs of Muslims society. The last chapter that means chapter four provides for the general summary of the work and conclusion. It deals more on the findings of the study and the work winds up by giving recommendations as to will be useful in the future generation of law.
