dc.description A Compulsory Research Report Submitted to Mzumbe University – Mbeya Campus College in Partial Fulfillment of the Requirement of the Award of Bachelor of Laws Degree (L.L.B) of Mzumbe University.
dc.description This report as titled’ Analysis on the law governing conditions and treatment of prisoners’ a case study was Manyoni Prison to present the whole prisons in Tanzania. Report comprises of four chapters, where by chapter one is about the General Introduction, chapter two is about Conceptual and Legal Framework, chapter three is about Finding and Data Analysis and chapter four is about Conclusion, Summary and Recommendations. In this research the Researcher tried to attesting two hypothesis which state that, Whether laws governing the treatment and conditions of prisoners are useful or not and if is it active what are factors leads to the harsh treatment and poor conditions of prisoners .Whether the prison Service department does not take any measure to overcome problem. During finding the Researcher observed that there some of the factor which lead to the problems on the treatment and conditions of prisoners those are: - Lack of enough fund, few numbers of prisons in Manyoni District which attract overcrowded of the prisoners, and weakness from the Prisons Officers whereby they treat prisoners harshly The Researcher recommend that the Government should increase budget to the Prisons Department in order to cure the situation as it was in Manyoni Prison where by there was scarcity of enough blanket, sleep mats, prisoners’ uniform and the standard food for all prisoners. Also, to look other ways for punishing Prisons Officers who still treat inhuman their client because it seems that applicable law which punish prisons officers it is not punitive at all that’s why those soldiers keep on treat offenders the way they wish. Then the Authority should give support to those Non-Governmental Agencies who deals with Human Rights specifically to offenders in order to teach them their human rights and how to enforce them.
