dc.description This study intended to assess the factors influencing effectiveness of inventory control. The specific objectives of the study were to determine the effects of staff competence on effectiveness of inventory control, to determine the influence of information technology on effectiveness of inventory control, and to examine on record keeping on the effectiveness of inventory control. The study was conducted at TANESCO Morogoro, in order to ensure that appropriate data was collected to meet the intended objectives the researcher used a case study design as type of research design where the information were obtained from a single unit which is TANESCO. The targeted population of this study was 80 employees of TANESCO where by the researcher used a sample of 67 respondents and all of them responded to the study. In order to ensure that the objectives are met the researcher used questionnaire and interview as a means to collect data from respondents, the data collected from the respondents were analyzed accordingly where by descriptive analysis was used to describe the opinion of the respondents about the study while inferential analysis which included correlation and multiple regression was used to establish the relationship between the independent variables and dependent variables. The findings revealed that there was a strong positive relationship between the independent variables and dependent variable, where by regression indicated that staff competence 32.7% which means that a unit increase in staff competence lead to increase in effectiveness of inventory control, information technology 29.7% a unit increase in information technology lead to the increase in effectiveness of inventory control by 29.7% as well as record keeping 47% increase in unit of record keeping lead to increase in effectiveness of inventory control by 47% therefore it was revealed that record keeping was the most significant factor that influencing effectiveness of inventory control at 47% , followed by staff competence which contributed up to 32.7% and lastly by information technology which contributed up to 29.7%.In consideration of the finding the researcher was able to conclude that all independent variables staff competence, information technology, and record keeping influence the effectiveness of inventory control.
