dc.description This document is a research that studies on discrimination on the basis of sex. It explores the Tanzania citizenship Act and establishes that there is a provision that is discriminatory on the basis of sex basically on conferring citizenship to foreign spouses. This paper is divided into four chapters, chapter one includes the introduction, background of the problem, statement of the problem, a literature review, research objectives and hypotheses, significance of the study, research methodology and scope and limitation of the study. Chapter two is generally an overview of the Tanzania citizenship act and its provision on conferring of citizenship. This chapter also includes the position of the constitution of Tanzania and international covenants on the discrimination on the basis of sex. It also looks into the extent and effect of the discriminatory provision of law. Chapter three contains an analysis on the subject and the findings on the same in relation to the hypotheses construed in chapter one. This is to evaluate to what extent the law is discriminatory. Chapter four consists of a conclusion and recommendation to curb the discriminatory through drastic measures such as amending the law to deal with the violation of human rights and the provision of the constitution, it also provides for remedies to persons affected by the law.
