Research-based investigations regarding prison education in Tanzania as the factor hindering ex-convict to get employment. It provides rich data that help to address the literature gap on prison education policies and practices in African countries, particularly in Tanzania. With its major research question: Are current policy and practices adequately meeting the needs of prisoners? The study explored the adequacy of prison education policies and practices in the Tanzanian context; do current practices adequately reflect the intention and substance of the policies? These questions helped a researcher to obtain relevant information to address the major research questions. This qualitative study, within an interpretivist paradigm, was conducted in Tanzania. In the first chapter a researcher has explained about the introduction of the study, background of the problem, the statement of the problem, objectives of the study, research question, literature review, significant and the limitation of the study. The second chapter is about conceptual and legal framework on effects of ex- convicts on employment aspect. Chapter three is all about findings which examines the research findings and data analysis on the appraisal of legal framework governing prison in Tanzania, on the whole aspect of problem of description of education to prisoners and finally, Chapter four explains the conclusion of the research and suggestion on what should be done by the stakeholders and the government on issues of rehabilitation especially prison education. Also, this chapter has provided the position as where the other person may start to develop further research.
