This research paper titled the separate ownership of property under marriage law and practice in Tanzania, aims at showing the right to own a separate property from the matrimonial property by married women in Tanzania and the practice of this to the society by collecting data from the field that is Katavi Region in Mpanda District. The research also aims to add knowledge and awareness to the people in the area researched through material obtained in the research, this research can be kept in library. The research may have many contributions to the policy makers and all human right stakeholders to improve the laws governing the Separate ownership of property by the women. Chapter one is an introduction to a study covers, background of the study, the statement of the problem, objectives, Hypotheses, Significance of the study, Literature Review and Research Methodology, where in research methodology the researcher uses interview which are structure and unstructured interview and questionare where by the data was collected bothly primary and secondary data that helps the researcher to have clear and understanding data findings for the problems. Chapter two is all about meanings and conceptualization of keys words of the title governing the Separate ownership of property by women.Chapter three of this research report deals with the legal framework governing the Separate ownership of property by women. There are foreign laws and domestic laws without leaving the international laws such as conventions and treaties.Chapter four of this research report deals with data analysis and collection of data from field at Katavi Region at Mpanda District. Questionnaires and interviews are the methods of data used to collect data from the field and other secondary methods of collecting data i.e. library materials. Here the collection of data aims at revealing the challenges facing the right separate ownership of property.The last chapter which is chapter five pin point out the general views of the research in which the researcher explain , also the researcher shows challenges such as lack of awareness among Women and the Statutory Laws that Apply to them, Disrcimination and Stigmatizaion against Women, ineffectiveness of the Laws Governing Separate Owneraship of property and the customs and the traditions of the Africans that Patrilineal type of Family systems and methods and strategies ways to overcome the challenges facing the Right to Separate ownership of property by women in Tanzania such creation of awareness, education, advocating for the right against any discrimination, elimination of bad traditions, improvement of Women’s Rights is among Democratization process, elimination of gender perspective on National development can helps to clarify their significant needs, efoorts should made to reach rural communities and emphasized of equality principle are very important in our current society
