dc.description This study aimed at assessing the impact of employee motivation on job performance at Tanzania Revenue Authority, case study of Dodoma TRA. This study guided with the following specific objectives; to identify motivational schemes practices at Tanzania Revenue Authority; to find out whether motivation packages has an impact on job performance; to identify the constraints that hinder employee motivation at Dodoma TRA. Conceptual frame work of the study includes independent variable which is motivation and dependent variable is job performance. The study employed a case study design and a sample of seventy three respondents involves some staff of Dodoma TRA. Sampling technique was used through probability sampling with combined method of simple random sampling and purposive sampling. Also data was collected by use of questionnaires and interviews. And it was analyzed both qualitatively and quantitatively. Qualitative data was subjected to content analysis, while quantitative data was classified, extracted and computed using SPSS into frequencies and percentages, and presented in tables and charts. The findings indicated that majority of individual agreed that TRA had motivation packages such as allowance, promotion and allowance. The packages were more effectives since most of employees were satisfied with their work and also are not willing to change employment to another organization. Also the study revealed constraints that hinder employee motivation such as inadequacy of operation budget, organizational culture and political interference. The study revealed that strong measure should be taken to enable staff to increase their productivity performance. It recommended that TRA should lobby with government for more operation budgets, and should put in a place staff motivation policy applicable to all staff from headquarters to the regional office.
