dc.description This work aims at looking the critical evaluation of the Tanzanian laws and its inadequacy in prohibiting cyber pornography. The main argument of the researcher in this study is that the available laws are inadequately prohibiting cyber pornography in Tanzania. Therefore, social and moral values according to our culture are corrupting notably. In fact, this study was guided by the main research question that whether available laws effectively prohibit cyber pornography in Tanzania? Whether there is any impact of cyber pornography to the society? Whether there are any challenges of having effective legal cyber pornography prohibition? Hence these research questions enabled the research into finding specific data relating to the study. Nevertheless, the main objective of the study was the inadequacy of Tanzanian legislation in prohibiting cyber pornography in Tanzania Further specific objective where to examine the domestic legal framework in prohibiting cyber pornography in Tanzania, to examine the practical challenges hindering effective cyber pornography prohibition in Tanzania. The methodology used by the researcher was analysis of the laws and other literatures available relating to prohibition of pornography generally and cyber pornography. However, observation and interview methods of cybercafés were employed together data relevant to study. Indeed, the findings under this study indicates that the available laws are weak in that they are not prohibiting production and possession of pornographic content materials, rather prohibits publication and distribution of the same. This implies that production and possession of pornography in Tanzania is allowed while pornography is condemned as it tends to corrupt the youth and children. It is the researcher’s submission that the available laws especially cyber laws be amended to include prohibition of production and possession of pornography like in other countries.
