This study intended to assess the Contribution of government funding scheme to women entrepreneurs at Temeke municipal council. Specifically, to identify the procedures to get fund from Temeke municipal council, identify the types of fund provided by Temeke municipal council to women entrepreneurs, the study focused on to identify the condition to get fund and its effect to women entrepreneurs, to identify the measures taken by government to address the challenges.
The study adopted a case study research design as the best way of collecting data from the study area, convenience and purposive sampling techniques was applied to select 45 respondents (women entrepreneurs) from different groups. The questionnaire, interview, observation, participation and document sources including published and unpublished material were used to collect data. Data collected were analyzed by descriptive statistics and using SPSS version 22.
The results shows that the government funding scheme to women entrepreneurs has positive impact were by most of respondents aware about the procedures to follow so as to got fund from Temeke Municipal Council, another result shows there are two types of fund provided by TMC includes cash and property fund, also respondents were aware about the condition to access fund from TMC and those condition of accessing fund had positive effect to women entrepreneurs and last results shows that government took some measures to address challenges of accessing fund to women entrepreneurs from Temeke Municipal Council.
The study suggests that government should review the procedures to get fund from Temeke municipal council because it seem to be long and review some condition of accessing fund so as to create conducive environment which can attract many targeted group to accessing fund from municipal council , also government should increase the budget of fund provided to women entrepreneurs so as to satisfied many targeted group to establish and expand their businesses and also government should take other measures so as to solve the challenges of unavailability of information about fund by use advertisement through different television, radio, newspapers and public meeting so as targeted group can get information easily.
