Public service recognition week has served as the devoted opportunity to push the boat out all the public officials across the world and throughout the public sectors. Its objective is to recognize and acknowledge the values of the services provided by their organization align with the arising of awareness of the excellence of the public service. The aim of this study was to assess and examine the contribution of public service week to the performance of employee in Tanzania whereby 60 respondents participated. Data collection methods used were questionnaires and interview. Data collection instruments were questionnaire guide and interview guide. Quantitative data were analyzed using the Statistical Package for Social Sciences whereby frequencies and percentages were used to elaborate analytical results. Qualitative data were analyzed using content analysis. It was revealed from the study revealed that public service week is important to the individual performance in Tanzania. Public service day remind the importance of public service and the people who dedicate themselves every day to the success of the public service delivery in Tanzania. In Tanzania the public service week festivity was in line with the African Public Service Day declaration made by the African ministers in Windhoek, Namibia in 2000 and now annual event marked by every 23rdof June. The study also revealed some challenges affect the public service operations including limited budget, unclear performance measurement, unskilled employees and lack of enough cooperation. Despite these challenges the study suggested the measures to be applicable in influencing performance in public sector including allocation of enough financial resource, regular training, effective communication and cultural change. It is concluded that since public service week helps to remind the public service duties and responsibilities, it important for public organization to fully participate in conducting public service week. The recommendations of the study are suggested that the government should enact policies which separate public sector operation from politics, TIRA managements should conduct training to employees, the government should provide enough financial support to public sectors, and TIRA management should build appropriate organization culture
