dc.description The study, aimed at finding the assessment of the TANAPA contributions to the community-initiated projects in promoting livelihood to the local community living around National Parks, specifically Kilimanjaro National Park. The research objectives were to examine the factors influencing the success or failure of park-related community-initiated projects around National Park, to assess the community perception on the Support to community-initiated projects, assess the extent of the community participation on these community development projects in their livelihood, assess how these social services projects reach the targeted population and the assets of the communities that influence the livelihood. The dependent variable was community livelihood and independent variables were Awareness of the community toward project implementation, community participation, support relationship between TANAPA and community, Access of the social services and Ownership of the assets. Basically, the study used both aspects of qualitative and quantitative approaches. Data were collected by means of questionnaires, interviews, observation and documentation review. The total study sample was comprised of 75, where by 5 were KINAPA officials and village leaders, while 70 were member of the communities from villages. Analytical statistical packages which included SPSS and STATA were used in quantifying, managing of data. Estimation of the Probit model was also made possible through the use of STATA. This enabled to obtain the estimation of the variables which helped to make both descriptive and quantitative interpretations of the findings. The results showed that TANAPA contributions through implementation of community-initiated projects have influence on community livelihoods where by community awareness towards community initiated projects have positive influence on the community livelihood, community participation to the community initiated projects have positive influence on community livelihood, access of the social services have negative influence on community livelihoods and ownership of assets have positive influence on community livelihoods and support relationship between TANAPA and local communities was found statistically insignificantly so it have any influence on community livelihood.
