dc.description The study aimed to assess the perceptions of people towards the industrial economy in Tanzania. Specifically, the objectives of the study were first to assess the perception of people on the industrial economy in Tanzania, to examine factors affecting the level of people`s perceptions towards an industrial economy in Tanzania and lastly to identify the impacts of different perceptions of people towards the industrial economy in Tanzania. The study was conducted at Morogoro Municipal Council in Morogoro Region. The study employed primary data which was collected through a questionnaire from a selected sample of people of Morogoro Municipal. The study included a sample of 100 respondents from Morogoro Municipal Council residences. Also, the study employed a cross-sectional study design. The results from the used probit model show that level of education, gender, age, expectations, interests and awareness affecting people`s perception towards the industrial economy in Tanzania. The results also revealed that there is a gap of understanding and access to information for people on the industrial economy in Tanzania which leads people to be indifference about the industrial economy in Tanzania. Therefore the following recommendations were proposed first, the government should use participatory approach and provision of education to the community on the industrial economy in Tanzania to reduce the gap of perception and understanding among the people. This will help people to understand easily what the government intends to achieve and the way they can play their role as community members to ensure successful completion of the targeted goal. But also to support efforts to improve productivity in existing factories by address skills shortage, including simplifying the process of hiring foreign experts for industries. On the other hand, this study was limited to cross-sectional data. Such kind of data limits the analysis of the dynamics, therefore, for this reason, use of panel data for future research is recommended, and also the study was limited by a sample size of 100 respondents and study area, this is not enough to generalize the study. Moreover, further researches are recommended from other regions of the country as well as researches with large sample size than the sample size used in this study to extend and generalization of findings.
