The main objective of this research is to examine legal powers of the police force and their powers in regulating political parties’ assemblies in Tanzania. Other objectives are analyzing the problem political parties’ face when they assemble, to pinpoint loopholes in the law, to examine the reason behind which led police to interfere and destroy political parties’ assemblies in Tanzania and the last objective is to suggest possible amendment of the law
In relation to the powers in regulating political parties assemblies in Tanzania. As the result of data collection, the researcher finds minority were of the idea. That the police powers were not tailored to carter for assurance and Protection of political party assemblies.
Since there were unfair treatment in Regulating political parties assemblies and also the group of majority, was of the view that the police powers is sufficiently enough to protect political parties.
The researcher recommends as follows: police force using reasonable force in regulating political parties assemblies, political parties educating their members, amendment of the laws and finally political parties respecting and observing the rule of conducting assemblies. |
