dc.description A Research Report Submitted in Partial Fulfillment of the Requirements for Award of Bachelor of Laws (LL. B) Degree of Mzumbe University
dc.description The reason for conducting this research is to make a critical analysis of the ELRA [Cap.366 R.E 2020] on the right of Informal Sector Workers to form Trade Union in Tanzania, a case study of Ukerewe District. Both library and field research collection tools were applied. The field data included the use of open-ended and close-ended questionnaires and unstructured interview technique through an interview guide to gather information. Through library research included the review of various legal documents such as case laws, reports, dissertations, statutes and text books. The researcher found that; there are several gaps in the labour laws mainly the ELRA which does not stipulate the rights of informal workers like domestic workers, small farmers, motorcycle and tricycle drivers‟ also known as „bodaboda‟ and motor vehicle drivers. The researcher recommends that; the ELRA is proposed to be amended to comply with the principles of human rights, in particular the rights enshrined in the constitution of the United Republic of Tanzania and in the African Charter of Human and Peoples Rights 1986 in general and ILO Conventions in particular
