The aim of the study was to assess the contributions of social partners in promoting good industrial relations in Tanzania. Explicitly the study aimed at achieving the following objectives; to assess the sources of industrial disputes at Kasulu Town Council (KTC), and to identify the duties of employer, employees (TU), and state in promoting good industrial relations in Tanzania, Convenience sampling technique was used in the study, Simple random sampling was also used to select 25 respondents from teachers, health workers and administrator, and stratified sampling technique was used to divide workers according to their TUs (CWT-teachers, TUGHE-health workers and TALGWU-local government workers) ultimately were selected randomly, and purposive sampling technique was used to five key informant respondents such as employers (HROs) and state (CHRO). The data were collected from 60 respondents through questionnaires and observation. These methods lead to worthiness of the study through acquiring relevant data and information needed by the researcher. The study revealed that at KTC, industrial relation was not good at all, due to poor working condition, low wages and allowances, poor workers participation in decision making, , poor administration of employees benefits, poor discipline among workers, conflicts of interest, Violation of rules and regulations and failure to recognize the presence of trade union Conclusively industrial relations at KTC to be improved the following issues should be taken into consideration; workers should be involved in decision making, improvement of working conditions, providing accessories to employees timely, each actor should play their duties effectively and efficiently and The labor Laws should be updated to insure smooth industrial relations. |
