This study is focused at improving the market share of native accounting firms.
The general objective was to determine the techniques through which the local accounting firms can apply to increase their scope of operations in accountancy and related services in the industry. Specific objectives included the public’s concern to accountancy services; prospective sectors that will offer wider market for accountancy involvement in recent future.
The data used was collected through questionnaires, interviews, documentary reviews, and focused group discussions conducted with informed parties. As a qualitative research, the researcher focused on exploring a deep understanding rather than a surface description of a large sample of population.
The findings provided numerous techniques that can be applied by emerging firms to establish themselves in the industry. However, other factors that are uncontrollable, and far beyond the scope of this study pose an obstacle to realise fully potential of the local firms.
This study is a wakeup call to policy makers, to ensure the policies formulated are in accordance to the economic phase prevailing and tries to bridge the gap between the local versus the international giants firms. |
