This study was carried to assess the influence of emergency procurement on value for
money in Tanzania. Specifically, objectives were aimed at the examine the influence
of quality attainment on value for money, determine the influence of accuracy on
supplies on value for money and ascertain the influence of timely delivery on value for
money attainment in non-profit organizations in Tanzania. The study was conducted at
SNV Netherlands Development organizations in Dar es Salaam. This study was guided
by three theories namely crisis theory, principal agency theory and four eye theory.
This study was employed a descriptive research design. The target population of the
study was 500 from employees at SNV Netherlands Development organizations. The
study used a sample of 50 respondents. Purposive sampling technique was used to draw
sample from the target population. Data were collected through questionnaires, documentary review and interview. Data collected were analyzed quantitative methods
such as descriptive analysis, correlations and multiple regression analysis with the
support of Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) version 23.From the study
the findings revealed quality attainment has strong and positive significant influence
on value for money procurement with significant value of 0.000 (P<0.05). Also, the
findings revealed that accuracy on supplies had strong and positive significant
influence on attainment of value for money with significant value p=0.000 (P<0.05). It
was further noted that timely delivery of supplies has strong and positive significant
influence on value for money with a significant value of P =0.000 (P<0.05).The study
concluded that quality attainment, accuracy on supplies and timely delivery attained
from emergency, procurement had a great contribution to the achievement of value for
money procurement. From this study, it was recommended that the company should
consider employing people with competencies and experiences to set up a procurement
department equipped with experienced, skilled and knowledgeable workforces to head
the procurement operations concerning emergency procurement, forecast requirements
based on the most and common requirement of its stakeholders during crisis time and
maintain a list of suppliers where when the requirement arises only orders will be placed
which lead to quality attainment, accuracy of delivery and timely delivery of supplies. |
