A study on assessing the influence of Staff Training on the Development of
Tanzania’s Private Organisations was done at Aga Khan Hospital Headquarters in
Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. The general objective of this study was to assess the
influence of staff training on the development of Tanzania’s Private Organisations.
The study used Case Study Design, and qualitative and quantitative approaches were
applied. Interview and documentary review were data collection methods used. Data
collection instruments used included; questionnaire, interview questions, and
documentary review schedule. Technique used for sampling was convenience and
purposive sampling under non-probability sampling technique. The study population
was 112, and one half of the total population that is 56 was taken as the study sample
size. Quantitative data analysis was done by using Excel of 2007 and Statistical
Package for the Service Solution (SPSS) version 20 whereas qualitative data was
analysed using content analysis.
The study’s findings indicated that, staff training was effective since it provided staff
with knowledge and proficiencies to perform duties more effectively, and it provided
new techniques to cope with advanced technology. The findings also revealed that
application of demonstration technique during On-Job training greatly impacted
respondent’s skills, and that short-term trainings were the most common type of
trainings being offered. Findings also indicated a strong association between staff
training and the development private organizations. The study recommends that; Aga
Khan Hospital should provide more training programs to the existing staffs so as to
reduce the cost of recruiting and training new staffs.
