dc.description The general objective of this study was to assess the roles of mobile financial services in supporting financial growth/development of SMEs in Tanzania, a case study of Dodoma City Council. Specifically, the study intended to determine the effect of mobile financial services on credit access, money saving habits and Capital development among SMEs in Dodoma City council. Both desk reviews and field studies were employed to capture all necessary information and data required to accomplish the study. The finding shows that 49.4% of SMEs consulted were Small enterprises with 5-49 employee and capital size of TZS5 to TZS200million. Also, the study discovered that, about 75.3% of the SMEs consulted conducts their business transaction by using mobile phone. The finding shows that, about 79% of the SMEs in Dodoma has managed to secure financial assistant from mobile companies. On the other hand, the study finds out that, the introduction of mobile financial services has increased saving among the SMEs in Dodoma city. About 76% of the respondents agreed that SMEs in Dodoma city council use mobile money accounts to save their cash. In case of SMEs capital development, the study finds out that, about 79% of the respondents agreed that the use of mobile financial services has facilitated capital development among SMEs in Dodoma city. Conclusively; it is recommended that, in order to have sustainable credit access among SMEs in Tanzania, SMEs should be encouraged to use mobile to conduct their daily transactions; there should be improvement of mobile financial services including increasing amount of cash which SMEs can save and withdraw once in a time; and SMEs should be encouraged to start using mobile to conduct their business.
