dc.description The study was carried out to assess the influence of training on the performance of SMEs in Tanzania. The study had three specific objectives which were: To assess the influence of marketing training on the SMEs performance, to examine the influence of credit management training on SMEs performance and to examine the influence of records management training on SMEs performance. This study was a case study type. In this study the population from BRELA and entrepreneurs from Kinondoni was employed as the key respondents. The study involved a sample size of 112 respondents. The researcher used purposive sampling technique and convenient sampling techniques in obtaining the sample size. Using these methods in sampling was good so as to ensure equal participation of different types of respondents to make the study more reliable and valid. Data was collected through questionnaires and interview only. The researcher used regression model in data analysis. Also, both qualitative and quantitative approaches were used in data presentation in chapter four and thereafter a discussion and analysis of the study findings was made in each of the variables. The results of the study from data testing revealed that marketing , credit management and records management trainings are very important in facilitating the growth of entrepreneurship. It was further shown that the entrepreneurship owned by individuals who had got such related training demonstrated higher growth. Training helps small business owners, managers and potential entrepreneurs to meet the challenges of today’s business environment manage the ever-changing world and plan for future of their business. It is recommended that the business owners need to undergo special training that will build their capacity in conducting their business with growth prospects.
