dc.description This study was conducted at Tunduru District Council, in Ruvuma and the title was “Assessment of the effectiveness of contract management in at LGA’s a case of Tunduru District Council. The main objective of the study was to assess the effectiveness of procurement contract management in Local Government Authorities. Specific objectives of the study were analyzing how TDC manage contract variation and or change in managing procurement contract at TDC, identifying if documentation of contract is appropriate at TDC, analyzing how TDC manage the contractual relationship in managing procurement contract and examining whether TDC comply with terms and condition of the contract on managing procurement contract. The researcher used a case study design, and judgemental sampling technique to obtain a number of representatives from the population of 103, sample size is 33. Data collected through questionnaire and interview, reliability test was done by Cronbach Alpha test and validity test was through KMO. Data analysis was done descriptively and inferential analysis while SPSS computer software used, while multiple regression used for relationship establishment between variables. The findings from the study revealed that contract management is effective, due to variables in those four objective revealed that in LGA’s there are strongly manage contractual variation and or change by valuation of variation, manage contractual relationship by trusting and disclose of contractual information between parties of the contract, documentation of contract is appropriate due to including priced bill of quantity and or schedule of rates and there is a compliance with contractual terms and conditions due to complying with quality terms and conditions and partially on other variables. Finally, the study recommends that rate and variation process to be done, training and the use of PPA 2011 and PPR 2013, LGA’s learn from private sectors, use standard documents in contract, increase budget for training in LGA’s, use of standard tender documents includes all documents and terms and conditions in contract management.
