dc.description A Dissertation Submitted to Mzumbe University Dar es salaam Campus College in Partial Fulfillment of the Requirements for the Award of Master of Science in Procurement and Supply Chain Management
dc.description The primary focus of this study was to understand supplier relationship management and operational performance of manufacturing firms in Tanzania. The special focus was to understand how supplier development, supplier involvement and information sharing all influence operational performance. The researcher relied on both questionnaires and interviewing methods of data collection. The quantitative data (from questionnaire) was then analyzed by using regression analysis. Qualitative data from interviews was used to validate the findings of the quantitative findings in the discussion of the findings. The results from the analysis revealed that supplier development had a significant relationship on the operational performance (β=0.535, t=4.780, P=0.000). Similarly, information sharing was observed to significantly influence operational performance (β=0.339, t=3.289, P=0.002). In addition to that, the results of the analysis revealed that supplier involvement exhibited no significant relationship with performance of the procuring entity (β=0.026, t=0.238, P=0.813). In that regard, the researcher was able to conclude that supplier development and information sharing play a great role in influencing the supply chain performance. The researcher proceeded to recommend that studies that address supplier relationship management be done in other types of industries in order to fully understand the dynamics of supplier relationships and how they affect organizational performance.
