The study aimed to assess the effectiveness of the integrity committees towards reducing corruption cases at Kibaha Education Centre (KEC)-Coast Region, Tanzania. The main objective of the study was to investigate effectiveness of the integrity committee towards reducing corruption cases at Kibaha Education Centre. The specific objectives were to examine the level of knowledge of integrity committee members towards addressing corruption cases; to assess the employees’ behavioral dynamics as a result of functions of integrity committees and; to evaluate the managements support to integrity committees towards addressing corruption cases at KEC. The study employed a mixed research design and to find out the effectiveness of integrity committees at KEC. The study drew both primary and secondary data obtained through structured questionnaires, focus group discussion and interview guide employing bivariate data analysis method. The results confirm that effective integrity committees are very important tool at Kibaha Education Centre towards reduction of corruption cases. The integrity committee members have adequate knowledge in addressing corruption at work places, despite the limited training on specialized aspects of addressing corruption. Both the management and employees from the seven institutions at K.E.C agreed to have witnessed positive employees’ behavioral change with reduced reported corruption cases due to the integrity committees operations. It further emerged that, the committees at KEC appeared to be successful because of the support of the management. Recommendations call for K.E.C management to provide training to integrity committee members. The integrity committees should have a link to share experiences and strengthen a common goal of shaping ethical employees with improved performance and public trust. Also K.E.C management is recommended to have strong external control of integrity committee members for effective operation of corruption case proceedings. |
