Introduction
Abdominal Injury has high morbidity and mortality among trauma diseases. It is the second
cause of death among trauma diseases.
More over abdominal injury is the common surgical emergency in many parts of the world
and its diagnosis and management still present a major challenge especially in a limited
resource setting.
Establishing preventive strategies and treatment guidelines requires an understanding of the
aetiologies, Injury characteristics and treatment outcome.
At KCMC there is no documented study done on this subject.
Aim
This study is done to determine the incidences, Injury Pattern, Aetiological Spectrum and
Short term Outcome of Abdominal Injury in Trauma patients.
Methodology
This is a descriptive retrospective hospital based study. It will be done at KCMC from
September 2016 to February 2017.
The study population will be all trauma patients with abdominal Injury admitted in the
general surgery department from September 2016 to February 2017
We will review the general surgery admission register books, MOT operation register
books.
The study subjects will be all trauma patients with abdominal Injury admitted in the general
surgery department from 2012 to 2016.
