This study aimed at assessing obstacles towards adoption of mobile money services in
Tanzania. Objectively, the study determined hindrances identified benefits offered by
adoption of mobile money services and assessed contribution of Government regulation
in adoption of mobile money services in Tanzania. The study used a case study design
.by which purposive and convenience sampling were employed to select the sample for
data collection. 100 participants were selected from Dar es Salaam region particularly
Ilala District.
The sample included mobile money customers, agents and operators. The study used
primary data. The findings show that participants are aware with mobile money Services.
However, the hindrances identified include the delay in receiving customer request
assistance, high transaction cost, small commission among mobile agents, armed robbery
and death of mobile Money agents and mobile money customers, lack of cash/ e-float are
the major hindrances to the adoption of mobile money services.
But from this findings only small commission is positive strong correlated to the adoption
of mobile money services while the remainder independent variables tend to be positive
perfect correlated to adoption of mobile money services.
