The aim of this study was to assess factors affecting supply chain management in food stuff distributions in Tanzania and its effects, with general objectives: focused on assess factors affecting SCM in food stuff distributions in Tanzania and its effects. The descriptive research design applied, and cross-sectional survey was conducted whereby data obtained through questionnaires administered to 47 respondents, focused on the role, challenges and effectiveness of all participants. Data was analyzed and presented using frequency tables and graphs. The study revealed that, on the issue of the biggest challenges in food stuff distribution, 50 percent of the respondent said that it is road problems, and on the issue of the how these challenges affect organization operations and 42.5 percent of the respondent said that it decreases efficiency. Also, on the question of what’s the biggest challenge in food stuff transportation in Tanzania is, 42.9 percent of the respondent and on the question of how these challenges affect your organization operations, 42.9 percent of the respondent said that it reduces organization efficiency. Therefore, the study recommends that, there’s a need of coherent policies that will ensure proper maintenance of our infrastructures, whilst NGO’s are required to encourage the government where and as appropriate to complement the projects which aim to touch the base of logistics operations in a country. For example, the revival of a inter modal and multi-modal transport, like the piggyback transportation in Lake Victoria and Tanganyika. |
