The development in global information technologies and the competitive market climate have pushed many organizations to transform their businesses. An Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system is a group of components of information system (IS) which can increase the competitiveness and gain better information for rational decision making in any organization. Consequently, many organizations decide to adopt ERP system in order to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of their organizations. Additionally, ERP adoption has effects on an organization and these effects are related to its consequences on business processes such as financial control process that is, it makes significant changes to the management of business processes. The primary objective of this study was to assess the impact of the ERP on financial management optimization at SAUT Mwanza. The study explores the factors that determine a successful ERP system adoption for financial management optimization. The approach used involved descriptive research design. The target population included the management units, IT unit, Accounting and Finance units of SAUT, where a total of 28 respondents were targeted. Descriptive analysis techniques were used for data analysis. The findings include its discussion based on the study objectives which lead to the recommendations that the institution should adopt enterprise resource planning so that it can reap all ERP potential benefits.
