The objectives of this study were to examine the simbanking challenges, to find out
types of simbanking services offered by CRDB Bank PLC and to find out ways of
improving simbanking services.
The data were collected by using questionnaires and interviews and the data collected
were coded and analyzed by using Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS).
The results of the study suggests the challenges facing simbanking include power
rationing, ICT penetration, delay in top ups, theft, and lack of internetwork money
transfer service.
The types of services offered by simbanking include money transfer and withdrawal,
bill payments, purchase of electricity and top ups, and balance check.
According to the results the improvement that should be made my include PIN
management, more education to customers, ensuring reliable service, and to put more
emphasis to accommodate rural people.
Further studies are needed to find out the contribution of simbanking to the growth of
national economy, and better control mechanism to overcome cyber crime in
simbanking industry.
