Entrepreneurship amongst women has been a recent development. An entrepreneur
is a person who has enterprising quality, takes initiative and establishes an economic
activity or enterprise.
Starting and operating an enterprise involves considerable risk and effort on the part of
the entrepreneurs, particularly in the light of high failure rate. The enterprises started by
women are so greatly influenced by the decisions and desires of the members of the
family. Most women entrepreneurs get started without being well equipped with adequate
knowledge of know how as the result they fail or under perform when compared to their
counter parts.
An attempt was made in this study to examine the training gap on women micro
entrepreneurs’ performance in Mwanza, Tanzania. The data was collected from women
entrepreneurs of Ilemela and Nyamagana districts who attended entrepreneurial trainings
at Education Development Foundation (EDFO) in Capripoint Mwanza. After data
collection and analysis, the results revealed that among other factors Trainings largely
contributes to women entrepreneurs’ super performance in their activities.
Among various external factors, access to credit, access to entrepreneurship training,
regulations and legislation, access to information and favourable infrastructure depicts
inspiring factors in participating micro-entrepreneurship. Study also identifies and
suggests several factors toward smooth development of women micro-entrepreneurship. |
