Description:
With the increase of wireless services, 5G is expected to mitigate the throughput challenges that exist in the previous generations. It is in this context, planning a fixed 5G wireless access link over terrain in a multi-user suburban scenario like the selected city in this paper Mwanza is very important. The line-of-sight propagation was achieved over the terrain but path-loss impairments, addition of foliage and rain loss have drops the signal strength below the receiver sensitivity of -84 dBm which render the 28 GHz carrier frequency microwave link unsuitable despite of using high gain antenna and beam forming techniques. To achieve successful links at Mwanza, the location of the Base station and height of the transmitting antenna were optimized. Keywords: 5G, Wireless Planning, V-dipole antenna.
