dc.description The study aimed at assessing the Contribution of Public Relations in Promoting Government Development Projects in Geita Town Council, Tanzania. It was guided by the following objectives: To determine the citizen‟s awareness of the development projects executed by Geita Town Council; and determine the ways employed by PR practitioners in GTC in promoting the District‟s development projects. This is a case study research with a target population that includes Public Servants from GTC who are the facilitators of the projects; Public Servants from Regional Administrative Secretary Office who are the supervisors of the council, journalists who represents different media as well as Village/Street Chairpersons who were on behalf of the GTC community. It was from this population that a grand total of 35 respondents were sampled through the application of purposive sampling technique from Geita district citizens. During the study, both primary and secondary data were collected. Primary data was collected through semi-structured interviews guided by interview guide. The group interviews were also conducted with journalists and village/street chairpersons led by the research objectives as well as document review. The study was guided by the system theory that emphasis on sequence of series in succession of activities. The theory has proven yes because, the study has revealed that most citizens are aware of the development projects that are within their areas of residency and they obtain information regarding the said projects from their village/street leaders but not a PRO who is expected to implement that role to which in turn will let the government gain trust from its citizens. Therefore, the role of a PRO in promoting development projects at GTC was not seen.
