mortality control programs in Bugogwa ward. The specific objectives for this study were

challenges facing efforts from government to involve the community in maternal
mortality control programs in Bugogwa Ward.
The data for this study were collected by using questionnaires and interviews. The
findings were analyzed, presented and discussed using both quantitative and qualitative
methods. The main findings include (i) where as there is low community participation in
maternal mortality control programs in Bugogwa ward but the community of Bugogwa
ward do not know even the meaning of community participation and the importance of
their participation; (ii) Most of the strategies used to control maternal mortality control
programs are not planned in presence of the representatives of the community of
Bugogwa ward so when it comes to implementations the strategies fails because the
community feel like they were abandoned. The conclusion made is that there is low
community participation in maternal mortality control programs because of many factors.
Strategies that are used in the programs of controlling maternal mortality in the ward
have not brought positive results to the community of Bugogwa ward. The researcher
recommended that unless the community is participating fully in maternal mortality
control programs the MDG five (To reduce maternal deaths) will never be attained.
