This study was conducted for the purpose of examine the role of CHAWATA in facilitating the
provision of rehabilitation services to people with physical disability in Tanzania, a case of
Nyamagana district. The objectives of the study were;to determine the role of CHAWATA in
provision of health services to people with physical disability, to find out the role of CHAWATA
in provision of technical aids to people with physical disability and to identify the role of
CHAWATA in enhancing skills training to people with physical disability in Nyamagana
District. The design of the research was case study which enabled the researcher to collect
quantitative data with purpose of doing comparison in terms of frequency and percentage of
respondents on the matter studied. The findings revealed that the majority of married respondents
34 (36.5%) were facilitated in receiving good health services by being provided with sponsorship
64 (68.8%) and donors 29 (31.2%). The study also revealed that 56 (60.2% ) of the respondents
were facilitated with technical aid in term of be provided with tricycles (26.5%) wheel chairs
(26%), 25.7% crutches (25.7%), and canes (21.8%), this technical aid favored people with
physical disability in their doing their activities. In terms of the skills training the study revealed
that 80.6% of the respondents were received skills training through workshop (42.6%), seminars
(46.3%), and practical training (11.1%) The study therefore concluded that CHAWATA has
helped people with physical disability in Nyamagana District in receiving rehabilitation services
which are in terms of health services, technical aid and skills training.
