Description

The purpose of this study was to assess the factors limiting students of higher learning institution in research skills using MWUCE and SIMMUCO as case studies. Though different studies have been conducted on higher learning problems less has been done on factors limiting higher learning student‘s mastery of research skills. The study took place in Kilimanjaro region in Moshi rural and Urban. The study aimed and objectives including finding out the source factors limiting higher leaning students in research, how these factors limit the research and establishment of solutions to the factors limiting higher learning in research writing. The methodology used in this research work involved qualitative research approach. Data collection methods included unstructured interviews, focus group discussions and documentary review. And case study research design was used to establish the factors limiting higher learning students in research. Thus the qualitative data were analysed using content analysis. It is recommended that institutions of higher learning and Government should improve their positions on research conduction so that is properly conducted and well supervised by the instructors as well improvement of institution management in research teaching.
