The study goal was to look at the post covid-19 preparedness on the use of e-learning technology in HLIs in Mbeya city, Tanzania. The study was guided by three objectives. The study employed Technological Acceptance Model (TAM) developed by Fred Davis in 1986. The researcher adopted mixed research approach under explanatory sequential mixed method to gather information from the field. The targeted population was 1783 from both public and private HLIs in Mbeya city. A sample size of 180 respondents was employed in data collection. Content and face validity were used to check the validity of research instruments and reliability was checked by using Cronbach’s alpha where an alpha of 0.83 indicated the instruments were valid and reliable. The trustworthiness of qualitative tools was observed credibility, transferability, conformability and dependability. Descriptive information was examined with the assistance of SPSS version 20 while qualitative data was evaluated with the help of word clouds program. The findings showed that teaching and learning digital devices, e-learning platforms, strong wireless local network, training of lecturers, e-learning experts and strategic planning indicated the preparedness of HLIs on e learning adoption. In addition, it was discovered that insufficient teaching and learning devices, lack of awareness, negative attitude, unstable power supply, high cost of internet service, shortage of competent staff, financial problem and geographical obstacles were the hindrance for preparedness of HLIs on the use of e-learning. The researcher recommended that HLIs should revise the institutional policy, strategies and curriculum to suit e-learning, training and retraining of students and lecturers. The government should formulate e learning policy and strategies to facilitate online learning in the post covid-19 disaster. Moreover, the government practically should commit to implement the developed polices and strategies.
