dc.description The main Purpose of this study was to investigate on the impact of Educational supervision on students’ academic performance in Ukerewe. The study was carried out in Ukerewe District. A sample size of 389 respondents was included, of these 361 were students, 15 were teachers, 6 Heads of schools, 6 Ward educational coordinators and District education officer. The study employed a mixed research approach (qualitative and quantitative research approach). Both quantitative and qualitative methods of data collection and analysis were used including questionnaires and guided interview whereas a triangulation research design was used. The main findings of this study were; Regular checking of teachers lesson plans, observing how teaching and learning takes place, daily monitoring of the students’ academic progress and evaluation of curriculum implementation, good communication between educational supervisors, regular meetings, collaboration, transparency, Moreover, challenges like; inadequate of teaching and learning materials for instance Art subject textbooks), lack of Fund, lack of enough infrastructures, shortage of science teachers, teachers negative perception on the supervision done by WECs, early pregnancy to students, poor parents cooperation in academic matters were revealed. The study concluded that, ward secondary schools should be supervised so that to bring impact on students’ academic performance means that, the government through MoEST should assist in improving educational supervision in ward secondary schools especially in Ukerewe by providing enough teaching and learning materials and resources like science teachers, books for art and science subjects and also houses for teachers. There is a need for the MoEST in cooperation with the educational supervisors to employ the supervisory strategies that suit the digitalized society today in order to overcome the ongoing challenges facing educational supervision.
