Description:
his study investigated the educational facilitation in inclusive schools for learners with
special needs in primary schools in Ilemela Municipality, Mwanza -Tanzania. The study
based on three major objectives which were: to find out whether educational materials
in inclusive schools for learners with special needs are available; to investigate as to
whether the learning environment in inclusive schools, is improved to meet the
threshold for learners with special needs; and to investigate whether inclusive schools
have appropriate and qualified teaching staff. The study used a sample size of 92
respondents. It employed a mixed research approach with interview, observation,
document analysis and questionnaire as instrument of data collections. The quantitative
data were analysed using descriptive statistics by Software Package for Statistical
Science (SPSS) version 20. The findings of this study revealed that educational
materials in inclusive schools for learners with special needs are scarcely available and
insufficient. Also, learning environment in inclusive schools is not suitable for learners
with special needs. It is also revealed that majority of teachers in inclusive schools do
not have appropriate knowledge and skills to handle learners with special needs. The
researcher recommended that the government with its stakeholders in education should
provide sufficient budget to equip teachers with adequate skills and required resource
materials as well as conducive learning environment for effective facilitation of
inclusive school in Ilemela and related schools in the country.
