The purpose of this study was on the impact of information and communication technology (ICT) upon ward secondary school students’ learning. It was carried out in Ilemela district of Mwanza, Tanzania. The study was guided by the general objective on the impact of information and communication technology (ICT) upon ward secondary school students’ learning. The experimental design was used to collect information from teachers, heads of schools and students. This study consisted of 392 respondents. The study used systematic sampling and purposive sampling to obtain a sample from a population of 16,495 individuals comprising teachers, students, heads of schools, District Education Officer and Zone Chief School Inspector. The study reveals that the impact information and technology (ICT) in ward secondary schools is still unknown and this has been caused by many factors caused by the educational stakeholders. Poor strategies to implement this programme and little understanding on ICT toward students. Further more the study reveals most of the heads of schools do not use alternative means of ICT programmes to run their schools. It is recommended that the government should introduce continuous training of in-service teachers, also teachers should encourage learners to seek knowledge of ICT other teachers, fellow learners and religious leaders hence this will increase knowledge for passing examinations. |
